Hello beautiful friends! Happy New Year to all of you!
Since we last met here on the blog, a lot has happened. We’ve packed up and made the Winter migration down South to Wellington Florida🌴☀️.
Wellington is the home of the Winter Equestrian Festival, a 12-week competition featuring top hunter, jumper, and equitation horse and riders from all over the world. It all takes place at the beautiful Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. It’s the landscape of equestrians’ dreams, and a “world” in itself that I’m certain mystifies many horse enthusiasts. Would you agree? Ask me if I ever thought I’d be lucky enough to get a front row seat in the action here and I’d assure you the likelihood of that was…not at all. I could have only imagined what it would be like. Fast forward (as life tends to go) and here I am for the 6th season (wait, seriously?) We are extremely lucky to be here and we are very grateful. It is truly a magical place where horses have the right of way and seeing people in riding clothes at the grocery store is normal. You might even bump into an Olympian or equestrian famous face at any number of local establishments. Is it all sunshine and rainbows? Of course not, there are things about the horse world that are really really hard, but a lot of it is “nothing better” and we are crazy blessed to be here. During this season of WEF I will take you along for the ride and give you the scoop from my perspective. And that’s the thing you guys, this experience is really different for everyone depending on their circumstances. Like anything else, it rides on the role you are playing here. This will be a look behind the scenes of my experience and from my perspective, as I know it to be.
A little bit about my perspective for those of you who don’t know me yet; I’m married to a hunter/jumper professional, I’m a barn manager, formerly a corporate relocation counselor, an amateur hunter rider, Mom to Isla (5), a friend, a blogger, a lover of style, aesthetics, and all of the fabulous things. I like to think there is a lot more to me, but you get a general idea 😉
I’m excited to share behind the scenes from WEF that allows you to feel connected to something that you long to know more about. I want this to be a community space for people who share my passions. In this new year and new season, you can expect coverage from WEF as well as 2019 style both in and out of the saddle, and the rollout of my personal styling services.
Watch for my next post where I will go into detail on what it actually looks like to relocate ourselves and the horses!
And with all of that being said, week 1 of WEF is here! 🥳This week kicks off the competition and includes 12 rings of competition for hunter, jumpers, and equitation. Saturday nights feature class (Saturday Night Lights) is a crowd favorite, “Battle of the Sexes”. Other highlight events during week 1 include round 1 of the Equinimity WEF Challenge Cup series and a $75K Grand Prix. The CaptiveOne Advisors jumper classic series kicks off with a $25K class (1.45-1.60).
