Mindfulness and Holiday Traditions

Family, General

Hello Beautiful Friends!

One of the most magical things about the holiday season is the opportunity to create and celebrate traditions among family and friends. Traditions serve such an important role in our lives, especially as children. Often times you may not even realize you have created a tradition.

Salazar Family traditions include counting down with the Dark Horse Advent Calendar, Santa Brunch at Birches on the Lake, Sugar cookie baking and decorating, Hosting Christmas Eve, Sparkle – our Elf on the Shelf, sending Christmas cards, picking out our real tree and decorating, and the list goes on. I love that each year Isla recalls these traditions and feels comfort in embracing them. It is so much fun to add new ones as the years go by too. If you think about it, many of us have traditions that continue throughout the year. It is something fun to think about or journal about because it happens in our subconscious…it is just what we do! So I challenge you to be mindful and think about your favorite holiday traditions and share a few of them with us in the comments! Have you started any new traditions this season?

I was handed down recipes and decorating tools from a long-running family tradition. I’ll be decorating cookies with Isla remembering that I was doing the same at her age.

It is such a magical time for children!

Speaking of traditions, tonight we are heading out to see the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train! I’ll share some moments from that on Instagram/stories. You can follow me on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/for_the_love_of_all_things_fab/
