Hello beautiful people!
I recently had the opportunity to get together with some wonderful friends of ours that we don’t get the chance to see nearly often enough. And not only did we get to catch up with the whole family at their picturesque log cabin home in Southern Minnesota, but I got the inside scoop from an amazing mini-boss, Mia, about her business venture and all that it entails. At 10-years-old, Mia has a maturity beyond her years. She is a bright light and from that light many good things will certainly come her way. Mia is in the business of Kombucha, High Vibes Kombucha, to be specific. With the help of her parents, she has set up an entire operation where she makes kombucha from start to finish and delivers it right to your doorstep.
I’ve had many different types of Kombucha from the store shelves and a couple of homemade varieties too. I’m not even the tiniest bit hesitant to say that after trying Mia’s kombucha, it is the best I’ve ever had. It’s obvious to me that a lot of love and care is put into each and every bottle from the organic non-gmo ingredients they use to what is the most charming part of the whole thing, the intention that she allows her customers to choose for their bottles. When Mia bottles your Kombucha, she asks that you choose an intention for it. Choices include Abundance, All is Well, Compassion, Creativity, Forgiveness, Hope, Joy, Kindness, Love, Peace, and Prosperity. How INCREDIBLE is that?!?!
I chose creativity for my first of what will be many bottles of High Vibes to come. I kid you not, the next morning I started my day full of energy and ambition to create and get things done.
Not only is Mia a creative, she can also communicate extremely well “in the spotlight” and delivers her message with confidence. She has taught classes on the process of making kombucha and easily speaks about her passion and excitement about what she does. The process that Mia completes to bring High Vibes Kombucha to its final stage – delivery to your doorstep, it all starts with high-quality organic black tea from the local coop. The tea is brewed, sugar added, and then it is added to one of their stainless steel fermenters. A scoby is then added to the fermenter. What is a scoby? Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast. … It is the living home for the bacteria and yeast that transform the sweet tea into tangy, fizzy kombucha — think of the scoby as the coral reef of the bacteria and yeast world. It a rubbery raft that floats on the surface of the kombucha. A new one is created with each batch.
I learned that one of the reasons I may enjoy High Vibes Kombucha so much more than those that I’ve gotten from the grocery store is because a majority of those are bottled using forced carbonation with CO2 pumped in. The difference with High Vibes and some other brands is that they are fermented a second time for natural carbonation. The 1st fermentation takes around 14 days. The 2nd takes around 5-7 days.
Additional flavoring is added at the time that the kombucha is bottled. Mia’s enhancements include ginger (what I had and loved), blueberry, and orange. The flavoring comes from juicing organic blueberries and oranges and chopping fresh organic ginger and golden raisins.
Another very cool aspect to Mia’s process is the fact that she keeps a Rose quartz by her fermenters ( as well as in every other room of their home). They decided upon the specific placement of the fermenters based on the art of feng shui. It is in their Abundance corner, where they felt was the best place for people to feel their chosen intention.
In addition to normal 10-year-old stuff, Mia is also an accomplished gymnast. Recently her kombucha business allowed for her to buy her very own horse, Bailey!
Congratulations Mia on all of your success so far and all that is to come!
