Monday is here once again, as scheduled.
This weekend was full of worthy causes to get involved in locally.
First off, Friday evening I attended the 1st annual Moms on a Mission Fashion Show, presented by Local Ties Medina. The event showcased locally owned boutiques and businesses. Local women hit the runway to show off looks from the featured boutiques. I found it very charming. I thought that the setup of the event was very well done, having nice general ticket holder seating as well as a VIP area. The VIP section was nicely laid out with 2nd Shade Patio Furniture, one of the event sponsors. There was a silent auction with many great items that really included something for everyone. I also thought that it was really smart to have the boutiques set up for a shopping and mingling opportunity before and after the show. Not only was it a fun evening of fashion, wine, and women – it was for an amazing cause!!!
Home Free is a Missions Inc. program that provides battered women with immediate safety and the opportunity to explore alternatives to living with a violent partner. Emergency housing, advocacy and support services are available at the shelter for up to 30 women and their children. Advocates provide resources as well as specific programming for children. Services provided are free of charge and provide support to over 500 women and children each year. They can receive help with legal remedies, housing, financial resources, medical care, transportation and accompaniment to appointments as needed. In addition to that, they also get access to education and support groups as well as social and recreational opportunities.
Boutiques represented at the event included Lillians, Winston & Co Boutique, A Wreath of Franklin, Urban Eve Salon and Boutique, Gear West, The Teehive, and Complete Eyecare of Medina. Event layout, staging, sound, lighting, and entrance decor was provided by Highway 55 Rental, VIP area furniture and layout by 2nd Shade Furniture, Bar service by Medina Entertainment Center, VIP champagne compliments of Lakeside Wine + Spirits, models styling & coordination by N Design, Models hair & makeup by Kalla Lily Salon and Spa, Bakery treats from Dobos Cafe & Bakeshop, Valet and luxury cars at entrance from Indoor Auto, and step & repeat backdrop printing by The Teehive. The venue space was provided by Just for Kix. I had a great time attending the event and I would look forward to getting to know those involved further and being apart of this event in the future! Great work to all those who worked so hard to make the inaugural event a success!
Round 2 of fabulous weekend causes kicked off at 8 am on Saturday morning. We attended the Animal Humane Society’s Walk for Animals in Golden Valley. I’ve been attending this event since I was young and I’m proud to raise funds in support of helping animals.
The event itself is a ton of fun. You will see dogs of all shapes, sizes, and colors…but that’s not all. I also saw cats, a guinea pig, a couple of goats, a parrot, and an iguana. They have activities for the dogs as well as the children in attendance. There were vendors, a live band, food trucks, and all kinds of fabulous entertainment!!! The walk itself is very scenic and nice, but I must admit, we didn’t make it that far! With all of the activities available, we spent our time doing those.
As Animal Humane Society’s largest annual fundraiser, the Walk for Animals brings together more than 8,000 people and 3,000 animals to celebrate and raise funds for homeless and neglected pets across Minnesota. Every dollar raised for the Walk helps provide medical treatment, behavior programs, and nurturing care to the nearly 23,000 animals who come into any of the four Minnesota shelters each year.
By supporting the Humane Society, thousands of animals will get the care they need to find new homes and new beginnings.
This week is full of fabulousness! Stay tuned!!! And thank you for being here.
