Hello Beautiful People and hello Monday!
How was your weekend? Mine was very low key in the best possible way. The snow is close to being a memory, the sun was out, and the people came out too! So nice to walk outside and not feel physical pain from the cold. I’m pleased.
I attended the kick-off event put on by The Scout Guide Minneapolis and The W Hotel – Foshay Tower for Minnesota Fashion Week on Thursday evening with a couple of girlfriends. We had a GREAT dinner at Borough in the North Loop beforehand. Plan to try it out! It’s great for dinner with friends and appropriate for a date night too. Also, a nice bar if you were looking for a happy hour spot in the North Loop. My food recommendations: I know it may sound frightening, but you simply must try the octopus! It was heavenly, and not at all what comes to mind (which for me was a weird texture and possibly sketchy). It was so good!! It contains flavors from yam, soy, daikon, cilantro, lime, & peanuts in the presentation. For my main dish, I had the scallops and let me tell you they are melt in your mouth – delish. It’s a big dish and they come atop red wine risotto, leek, root vegetable, grapes, elderflower, & salsify. You can check out the full menu, here.
The event was high energy – fashion brought happiness and everyone was in their glory. We enjoyed being out amongst fellow fashionistas. For me, it was a great way to experience the vibe of the Minnesota social scene pertaining to fashion design and influencers. When the blog launched in January, I was still in Florida and I got really comfortable with the opportunities to write about there, although there is so much untapped that I look forward to discovering in the future when I return. As we are into Spring and I’m back in Minnesota for the Summer, there is so much here that I am discovering through my new set of eyes as a blogger! I’m honestly overwhelmed! But this is a good thing. There is a lot to share and be excited about. A lot to learn and a lot of growth to be had.
My look for the evening came from Anthropologie.
On to the weekend! I tend to spend Saturday mornings out at the barn and the remainder of the day doing something fun with the barn family (barn family=people from the barn whom become a family unit and spend lots of time doing pretty much everything together)
I straight up adore the city of Wayzata. I grew up there and although it has changed quite a bit over the past several years, it still maintains its charm and delight. This past Saturday we spent the morning at the barn and then off to brunch at a Wayzata hot spot, Cov, a coastal American eatery. I LOVE the atmosphere there. It feels like you are in Nantucket or the Hamptons. The food and beverages are fabulous. I can’t wait to spend time out on the patio at Cov this Summer!
I shared the buffalo shrimp (SO GOOD) and also had a watermelon salad (OMG) – Arugula, red onion, tomato, goat cheese, pistachio, with a red wine vinaigrette.
The restaurant scene in Minnesota is SO legit. I’m serious. I spend plenty of time in other states and places and the food situation doesn’t even come close to comparing to our options here.
We spent time walking around downtown visiting the various establishments that line the delightful streets of Wayzata. A quick stop to Bellecour (a French-inspired bistro and bakery) for pastries, Anthropologie (because I’m an addict), and Merilou Boutique (because boutiques) were some of the stops on our outing.
The week ahead is shaping up to be very busy! There are ongoing events for MN Fashion Week, I’m meeting with someone I haven’t seen in years to learn the details behind her business – which I’ll be really excited to share with you, and there is a ton of equestrian action to cover! The Longines Masters event in New York starts this week as well as the Land Rover 3 Day Event in Kentucky.
As promised, I’ll also be sharing some tips for evaluating your horses’ maintenance routines.
Happy fabulous week beauties!
